Return of the Temujai

The Temujai — the steppe riders who tried to invade Skandia in The Battle for Skandia — are moving again. Hal, his Herons, and the Skandian army prepare for a defense that needs to hold a mountain pass against cavalry in numbers no one has seen since the last war. The sailors have to fight on land.

Return of the Temujai leans on the Ranger’s Apprentice crossover harder than any Brotherband book so far — several main-series characters appear, and the tactical problem is one Flanagan has been circling since book 4. The book closes a thread that has been open since 2008.
