The Siege of Macindaw

Castle Macindaw has been taken. Its rightful lord is dead; the usurper Keren is holding the castle and holding something worse behind the walls. Will — alone, wounded, and without the authority to requisition so much as a horse — finds help in an old friend newly arrived from the south and a Skandian skirl who owes him a debt.

The Siege of Macindaw closes the northern arc that began in The Sorcerer of the North. It’s the first time the series centers a full siege battle, and it handles the tactics with the kind of patient accuracy the books become known for. The book also marks the start of a more permanent role for Will as the Ranger of a specific fief.
