The Battle for Skandia

A horde of Temujai riders has crossed the eastern mountains and is bearing down on Skandia — and Skandia, without allies, is going to lose. Will, Halt, Horace, and Evanlyn end up at the center of an alliance nobody’s ever tried to negotiate, between a kingdom that raids Skandia for sport and a Skandia that has always preferred to fight alone.

The Battle for Skandia is the conclusion of the series’ first major arc — the story that began with the Celtic mines in book two closes here, and a number of relationships (Ranger and Skandian, Araluen and Skandia) take shapes they’ll keep for the rest of the series. The US title is The Battle for Skandia; the Australian edition was published as Oakleaf Bearers.
