Dune: House Atreides

Dune: House Atreides is the first novel in the Prelude to Dune trilogy — the first Duniverse book written after Frank Herbert’s death. Built from notes Frank left behind, it traces Leto Atreides from teenage heir to Duke, introduces a young Duncan Idaho and Gurney Halleck, and shows the Harkonnen and Corrino machinations that set up the events of Dune.

Readers new to Dune should almost always read Dune first — this novel is a prequel designed to enrich the original, not replace it.
